Cillian Bonnar made the successful transition from the RTÉ television programme Ireland's Fittest Family to the Waterford senior hurling team, when he made his debut in this week's Munster Hurling League game against Kerry.

Cillian is son of Colm Bonnar, the two-time All-Ireland-winning hurler with Tipperary and the former Tipperary manager.

The Bonnar family competed in the most recent series of Ireland's Fittest Family.

Cillian had been named in Waterford's starting fifteen but was replaced prior to the throw-in, before being introduced as a replacement for Seán Walsh in the 63rd minute.

Waterford won the match played at Austin Stack Park in Tralee by 3-23 to 3-12.
