Tipperary rugby player Diarmuid Barron is due to undergo surgery for a foot injury in the coming week, meaning that he will be ruled out of action for some time.

The New Inn man joins a growing list of Munster players who are injured.

They include Ireland's Dave Kilcoyne, whose surgery on a shoulder injury means he won't be available for the rest of this season.

Jack O’Donoghue, Edwin Edogbo, Peter O'Mahony and Joey Carbery are also on the treatment table.

However, Oli Jager and Eoghan Clarke are undergoing their return to play protocols after respective head injuries, while Fineen Wycherley is also close to a return after his shoulder injury.

Centre Alex Nankivell is continuing his rehab from an ankle injury.

Munster's next game is against Toulon in the Investec Champions Cup next Saturday.
