The inter divisional Under 14 football season concluded with the South meeting the West in Fethard Town Park in a repeat of last year’s Under 13 final.

West Tipperary started the game at a blistering pace, with strong running down the centre of the South defence resulting in an unstoppable goal scored by Reuben Grace.

His effort gave South Tipperary captain Owen Fanning no chance in the goal.

However, South Tipp quickly got to grips with the pace of the game. Conor O’ Meara, who was in good scoring form, kicked three points to get the South on level terms.

Conor Collins quickly replied for the West with a point.

South Tipp then worked the ball well up the field, resulting in a low shot to the corner for a goal finished well by Noah Power.

The South Tipp defence got to grips with the West attack with Ben Roche, Conor Hurley, Travis McLoughlin and Darragh Beckett to the fore.

A powerful individual effort by Conor O’Meara to the top corner of the net saw the South lead by five points at the half time break.

West Tipperary started the second half brightly and with players of the quality of Reuben Grace and Conor Collins they were always going to mount a comeback.

However, the South Tipp backs continued to dominate.

South Tipp worked the ball up the field again, resulting in a low shot into the net by Conal Morrison, who contributed 1-1 to his side’s tally.

Darragh Beckett, who worked tirelessly all night, kicked a super point and a fortuitous goal by substitute Cillian Morrissey sealed it for the South side on a scoreline of 4-7 to 1-5.

South Tipperary captain Owen Fanning proudly accepted the Mick Frawley Cup from Sean O’Meara. He thanked all players, parents and management for their work.

He also thanked referee Tadhg Lonergan and Fethard Town Park for the use of their facilities.
