Plenty of success for Tipperary jockeys and trainers since the New Year

Burnchurch trainer Martin Hassett got off the mark for the New Year with his first runner as Bynx scored a cosy success in the two-mile one-furlong handicap hurdle at Tramore on Monday.

Ridden by Sean Flanagan, the BTF Racing Club-owned 6/1 shot made all the running to beat Henry de Bromhead’s 4/1 chance Belle The Lioness by three and a half lengths.

John Ryan and conditional jockey Liam Quinlan scored a far easier win in the near two-mile rated novice chase with Mount Frisco. In the trainer’s own colours, the 11/2 chance made most of the running and came home an 18-length winner from the Peter Fahey-trained Knocknagappagh.

Harry Swan was a New Year's Day winner at Fairyhouse where he completed a treble for Gordon Elliott. The trainer had earlier scored with the Jack Kennedy-ridden Mollys Mango and Riviere D’etel and his third of the day came as Staffordshire Knot landed the bumper.

He got on top inside the final furlong to win by three and a half lengths from the Lorna Fowler-trained 12/1 chance Recoded.
