Lullaby of London is available now to download on iTunes
Tipperary band Rebel Hearts have been playing their hearts out for 25 years and now to honour the great Shane MacGowan as well as marking that milestone, they have released a new single in a fitting tribute to the Tipperary icon and need your help to get to number one in the charts!
Not since Liam Clancy sang the 'The Broad Majestic Shannon' have we seen or heard Tipperary legends cover a Shane McGowan classic. The Rebel Hearts band - made up of musicians from the heartlands of Tipperary - are heavily influenced by the legendary poet and singer Shane McGowan as well as other Irish ballad singers and musicians.
Their new song, called the Lullaby of London, has just been released and it is racing up the charts at a rapid rate. The band would love to get to number one - and in a recent quote said: "Wudnt it be some craic to see the Rebel Hearts name up there in the charts and more importantly keeping Shane MacGowans music alive and well."
Rebel Hearts are a 5-piece band from Tipperary who always guarantee a great nights entertainment wherever they play and over the years they have performed many sold out gigs in Ireland and abroad. Regular tunes at their shows include traditional tunes, Irish rebel songs and their gig is always a lively, energy filled experience with plenty of drums, whistles and guitars.
The song itself is a classic, where a stroll through London feeds memories of the Corncrake and the fresh air of long ago in Tipperary. The 'Lullaby' is a beautiful evocative tune full of melody, images and rhyme. The lyrics grasp the detail:
"As I walked down by the riverside
One evening in the spring
Heard a long gone song
From days gone by
Blown in on the great North wind"
The new 'Rebel Hearts' single costs just 99 cents and if you would like to hear more you can click on this link for a sneak preview of the tune: https://music.apple.com/us/album/lullaby-of-london-single/1725869890
