Tipperary woman celebrates milestone 100 year birthday

Congratulations to Kitty Lyons (nee Ryan) formerly Cookill, Ballycahill, who is celebrating her 100th birthday.

Kitty commemorated her special day with family and friends on January 19.

Kitty moved to Nottingham in 1947 to train as a nurse at Nottingham General Hospital, she met and married her husband Donal in 1952 and together they had six children.

Kitty is a resident of Acorn House in Nottingham where she maintains a busy life, receiving visits from her family and taking part in the care home activities.

Kitty will receive a telegram from King Charles and due to her Irish heritage will also receive a gift and a special message from President Michael D. Higgins.
