Tipperary student flies Irish flag by winning Muay Thai gold medal in Bangkok

Tipperary school student Thomas McMahon continues his rise in Muay Thai Kickboxing after winning a gold medal at the WBC Amazing MuayThai World Festival in Bangkok last weekend.

The 15-year-old Castleconnell native - who is a pupil at Newport College in North Tipperary - became the 53.5kg Youth World Champion for 2024 after defeating an Australian opponent at the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Putting his opponent down twice with a lovely left kick to the head and some beautiful boxing, he controlled the fight with a strong clinch, taking the back a few times as well as working his range, timing, and angles perfectly with his striking to take home the gold.
