Ashbourne Cup Final

University of Limerick 6-11

Technological University Dublin 1-12

Tipperary camogie stars were heavily influential last Saturday afternoon as the University of Limerick clinched honours in the Ashbourne Cup final with a comprehensive 6-11 to 1-12 win over Technological University Dublin.

Eimear McGrath (Drom & Inch) and Casey Hennessy (Clonoulty Rossmore) were in top form for the Limerick college in their victory with the pair combining for a total of 3-4 in the win, while Eimear Loughman (Clonoulty Rossmore) was joint-captain of the side who were easy winners in Saturday's final which was played in the Connacht Aerodrome.

Despite the sides fighting it out well in the first half where the eventual winners only took a one-point lead in at the break at 2-5 to 1-7, the Wolves showed their goal hunger with Eimear McGrath bagging a second goal of the game along with one from the aforementioned Hennessy while Mairead O'Brien hit two goals in a flurry of green flags.
