Damp days on the golf course
After the excitement of Captains’ Drive in on Monday, we have had a somewhat damp time of it at Slievenamon for the rest of the week, with the weather playing havoc with our competitions.
Nevertheless, the Bank Holiday Monday was a rousing success with Captain Mark Dillon, Lady Captain Paula Spillane and Junior Captain Calvin Ryan leading out a full crowd to play in super conditions (although, as Lady Captain Paula Spillane said afterwards - “I’m not going to lie - it got a little chilly towards the end”!).
Two prizes were awarded. First prize went to Ann O’Dea, Kit O’Connor and Billy Phelan, with second prize going to Kathleen Harrington, Jim Cleese and John O’Sullivan.
There was a big crowd back at the Clubhouse afterwards to continue the chat and fun, with Paula Cahill kept busy in the Restaurant making sure everyone was fed, A very successful day all around, and our Captains have laid down a marker for the enthusiasm and energy they will be bringing over the coming months.
Everyone is now looking forward to a lift in the weather and chomping (or champing - for the pedants among us!) at the bit to get competitions started.
