The David Murray trained Carrick Aldo was the fastest heat winner in the second round of the Tote Gold Cup at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night and is now the 5/2 outright favourite.

This speedy son of Droopys Sydney – Minnies Hazel was paw-perfect over the 525 yards trip as he clocked a sensational 28.05, the fastest of the night. He ran on to win by two lengths to Jetstream Breeze in second for trainer Marie Gilbert and Lotto Other News for Shaun Conway was third.

The Pat Buckley trained Glengar Martha also won back-to-back heats and was just two spots slower than Irish Sprint Cup champion Carrick Aldo with a fast 28.07. It was another dominant display from this lady who pulled clear to win by eight lengths to the Michael J O’Donovan trained Another Holiday in second and Simons Cap in third for Marie Gilbert.

Road Exile gave Buckley a fine double on the night as he returned to winning ways in a time of 28.31. Deadly Style was second for Tipperary trainer Michael J O’Donovan and Road Exile’s kennelmate Octane Cora grabbed third spot.

Boylesports Coco won the opening heat for trainer Dolores Ruth in 28.30 with former Derby runner-up Ballymac Finn in second place for Liam Dowling and Neon Nite in third for Ian Reilly.

The A1 TIME Greyhound Nutrition Cork Cup kicked off at Curraheen on Saturday night with some flashy winners including Riverside Pingu for trainer Graham Holland who won in 28.37. Footfield Peach was also eye-catching for trainer John A. Linehan who clocked 28.49.
