Cahir Park Golf Club where it is a huge honour for any golfer to win one of the prestigious scratch cup competitions. This year the competitions will be held in July.
The bright days are coming... and hopefully soon
Last week we announced spring and the anticipation of golf—lots of golf—but the fluffy clouds had other plans. Wednesday was a good interlude between yellow warnings for rain and sleet. We will eventually beat the clouds and downpours. In the meantime, think of and appreciate the course staff who are working to keep disease off the greens, which occurs because of extra damp conditions, and while using time to service machinery, daily face the downpours to keep all course areas in order.
Much is written about the golf playing season being reduced because of weather. Little mention is made of the work that has to continue in the background to maintain courses for the inevitable sudden burst of golf play that will happen, and very soon, hopefully.
Wages must be paid, supplies and maintenance costs covered, insurance, and a myriad of overhead expenses continue, even when we are not playing golf.
So, while no golf expert has come up with a true solution to the shorter season of play for fees that cover twelve months' membership, just remember every club has the same issues. All members of golf clubs need to step up, pay fees, and support Club Staff and Volunteer Committee Members.

Spring League
We have extend the first round of the Spring League out to the Sunday the 18th of February due to the ongoing bad weather.
Mens Result
We held a 12 hole open single from the 29th of January until the 4th of February and the results were as follows
Category 1: N/A
Category 2: 1st John Mitchell (13) 33 pts
Category 3: 1st Robbie O’Dwyer (17) 30 pts
Category 4: 1st Eoin O’Gorman (25) 30 pts
Mens Scratch Cups
Save the dates! Our Senior Scratch Cup will take place on Sunday, July 21 over 36 holes (shotgun start) and our Minor, Intermediate and Junior Scratch Cups will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 26, 27 and 28. All over 18 holes.
Find The Golf Ball
The result of last week’s find the Golfball draw. The envelope drawn was for Patricia O’Brien. Her number was 37. Not a winner. Thomas takes home €20.
The next draw is on Saturday, February 17. The jackpot will be €920.
