Captain’s Drive-in at County Tipperary Golf and Country Club

The Captain’s Drive-in was very successful as the clouds moved off and the sun started to shine, all to mark the beginning of a new golf year with new people at the helm. The many members who turned out gave a great welcome to Captain Daniel Kennedy, Lady Captain Mary O’Donnell, Junior Boys Captain Aidan Skeffington and Junior Girls Captain Andrea Rangelova and their families. It is a happy and proud time for each of them.

We were also delighted to meet with the families of each of the captains, some family members we are very familiar with as they have already made their mark on the golf course. Other family members who have not graced the golf course as yet, remember it is never too late to start.

The 9-hole scramble was good fun, an important aspect of it is that each golfer has the possibility of playing with someone they might never get to play with.

The results of the front 9-hole Mixed Scramble; in 1st place Des O’Neill, Tommy Landers, Ailish Hayes & Anne Grace.
In second place Michael Ryan (Rosegreen), Alan Gillespie, Liam Ryan (Con) & Pauline Walsh.

The result of the back 9-hole scramble; in 1st place Kevin Fitzgerald, Don Kennedy, Siobhan Landers & Cait McCormack. In 2nd place Paudie Carr, George Ryan, Philip Ryan & Isobel Hayes.

Speaking at the presentation of prizes Lady Captain Mary O’Donnell and Captain Daniel Kennedy congratulated the winners, thanked everyone for a fine turn out of members. They thanked all those who helped with the draw and all who helped to organise the day. They wished everyone good golfing for 2024.
