Sharlene Mawdsley has qualified for the semi-finals of the 400 metres at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow.
The Newport athlete's second place in a time of 52.23 seconds - the same time as Norway’s Henriette Jager and Frenchwoman Amandine Brossier - in a bunch finish to this morning's third heat was good enough to qualify her for tonight's semi-finals, which will be held from 8.50pm.
The heat was won by Talitha Diggs of the United States.
Mawdsley was initially in a fastest qualifiers place, but race officials updated the result later following the photo finish to give the three women joint-second and automatic entry to the semi-finals.
The championships are being televised on Virgin Media Two.
