Malayalees In South Tipperary (MIST) is thrilled to announce its establishment as a burgeoning community uniting people from the state of Kerala in India.

This new Indian community was officially launched by the Mayor of Clonmel Richie Molloy; Deputy Mayor Michael Murphy, Cllr John FitzGerald, Garda Sergeant Kieran O’Regan and Peace Commissioner Renny Abraham at Clonmel Óg GAA Club.

MIST is a dynamic community, passionately dedicated to fostering camaraderie among Keralites residing in south Tipperary.

“Our community embraces diversity and showcases the rich cultural heritage that our members bring from the beautiful landscapes of Kerala,” says Renny Abraham.

“The formation of the Malayalee community in south Tipperary is a testament to the rich diversity that enhances the cultural fabric of our community.

“Originating from the Indian state of Kerala, Malayalees have brought with them a unique blend of traditions, languages and customs that enrich the tapestry of our multicultural society.

“The importance of fostering such communities cannot be overstated. Embracing diversity promotes understanding, tolerance and unity.

“The Malayalee community, with its distinct cultural practices and celebrations, contributes to the vibrant mosaic that is south Tipperary. Through mutual respect and collaboration, we can strengthen the bonds that tie us together as a community.

“Central to the values of the Malayalee community is a deep-rooted commitment to education, family and community service. Being a parent is an enormous responsibility as a person fulfilling your roles and to one’s children especially.

“Looking towards the future, the Malayalee community in south Tipperary holds immense potential for growth and positive impact. By fostering cultural exchange and collaboration, we can harness the unique strengths and perspectives of the Malayalee community to address shared challenges and contribute to the overall development of our society.

“MIST would like to emphasise the significance of the Malayalee community in south Tipperary connecting with the broader Irish community. Our diversity is a strength that enriches the tapestry of our local culture and we are proud to call Ireland our home.

“As we connect with the wider Irish community, let us celebrate our shared humanity while cherishing the distinctiveness that each culture brings. By doing so, we pave the way for a more inclusive, tolerant and united south Tipperary, where everyone has the chance to contribute their unique strengths to the benefit of all.

“Firstly, as a testament to our ethos, we recently donated 96kgs of hygiene products to The Hygiene Bank. These items will be shared and distributed to those in our community who have been pulled into poverty.

“Secondly, in recognition of the gardaí’s hard work and dedication and their unwavering commitment to ensuring our safety and well-being, we took a moment to express our heartfelt thanks.

“The sacrifices the Gardaí make, often behind the scenes, are valued and as a token of our appreciation an Indian Feast for all the officers in the Clonmel Garda Station was arranged.

“Once again, thank you for your tireless efforts in keeping our community safe. Your dedication inspires us, and we are truly fortunate to have such dedicated individuals serving in our local law enforcement,” Renny Abraham added.
