Fifty calves will go under the hammer at Cahir Mart this Friday, March 8 at 7pm to raise funds for Rathgormack/Clonea Comeragh Amenity Area’s astro-turf pitch.
The calves have been donated for the sale by farmers from the two communities near Carrick-on-Suir and further afield. Chief organiser Pat Lynch says they have received a very positive response to their appeal from farmers.
He says they are still accepting donations of calves and alternatively financial donations. Anyone wishing to do so should contact him at (087) 641 6929.
All proceeds will go towards paying off the €100,000 loan for the popular flood-lit astro-turf pitch in Rathgormack village.
The Donate a Calf sale is one of a range of fundraisers taking place as part of the Comeragh Amenity Area Committee’s main Lip Sync Battle fundraising night in Clonmel’s Hotel Minella at 8pm on Saturday, March 23.
The calf sale is being run by one of the group’s competing in the Lip Sync Battle comprising Pat Lynch’s wife Aoife, Rita Hogan, Joanne Power, Evelyn O’Hara, and Aoife Cummins.
