Vision Ireland, the new name for NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its second annual Oireachtas Celebration of Achievement, held on Thursday, February 29.
Hosted in the Dáil members' dining room by Senator Martin Conway, the evening began with a meet and greet involving the award recipients and the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.
The awards celebrated individuals and partners who have significantly contributed to Vision Ireland's mission, impacting various aspects of everyday life.
The recipients included Peter Ryan from Upperchurch, Tipperary, who was honoured as Fundraiser of the Year, for his extraordinary effort running 586 kilometres from Malin Head to Mizen Head in just five days last October, and raising over €120,000.
His journey from visual impairment to finding a new purpose through sport embodies the spirit of determination.
