Cllr John FitzGerald says that Mulcahy Park in Clonmel needs “sharpening”
The appearance of Mulcahy Park in Clonmel needs “sharpening up,” Cllr John FitzGerald has stated.
The park was a lovely facility, leading to the river and the Blueway walking, cycling and kayaking trail, but its appearance isn’t as sharp as it could be, he told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
During autumn the paths became dangerous with the amount of leaves on them and the grass was growing onto the paths when he visited around Christmas.
If the area was neglected it could fester and lead to anti-social behaviour, he warned.
Cllr FitzGerald said the park needed to be maintained better, although he appreciated that the council’s outdoor staff had a huge area to cover.
District Mayor Richie Molloy agreed that the council should do all it could to upgrade the park.
Cllr Michael Murphy also agreed that Mulcahy Park needed to be sharpened up, as did Denis Burke Park, with the summer fast approaching. He said that the outdoor staff did an excellent job.
Cllr Pat English agreed with the remarks about Mulcahy Park, and said the council should also keep Denis Burke Park and the playground at Elm Park in mind. The equipment at Denis Burke Park needs to be upgraded, he said.
District Administrator Carol Creighton said she would have a look at the playground equipment at Denis Burke Park and at the Elm Park playground.
