Colin Ryan and Jerome Cahill after winning the final.
For only the 5th time ever, Tipperary won the Junior 40x20 doubles All-Ireland final and where better to do it than on home ground in Cashel Handball club as former Tipperary hurler Jerome Cahill and local star Colin Ryan combined brilliantly once more to defeat Kilkenny pair Jack Holden and Dylan Caulfield in the final at the fantastic brand-new handball alley in Cashel.
A huge crowd gathered last Friday evening in anticipation ahead of an expected 'epic' final in Cashel Handball Club as the Junior Doubles 40x20 All-Ireland final brought the crowds from across the region to witness Cashel’s Colin Ryan as well as Lahorna’s Jerome Cahill attempt to make history against the pair of 'Cats'.
The new alley stand in Cashel provided a fantastic viewing point for spectators who were treated to an intense game where the Tipp lads set the tone early, winning the first game 21-5 and following up sharply with a convincing win in the second game as well.
It has been quality all season from the Tipperary duo who have shown great form throughout the competition. They showed great character to ground out a nerve-wracking win in the semi final at Croke Park the Sunday before against Galway, as they won the tie breaker in the capital to progress to the final.
The match official for the Junior Handball All-Ireland final was Gavin Buggy from Wexford, and afterwards there was great joy in the arena as local lad Colin Ryan and Jerome Cahill - who previously starred with county hurling teams where he won minor, Under 21 and Under 20 All-Ireland hurling medals wearing the blue and gold - collected their medals having won the competition in real style.
