Suirside up to second in bid for promotion in Tipperary Division 2

Suirside 2 – 1 Moyglass United

This was a tense and tight game in Grange on Sunday afternoon, and it was the home side that hit the front in the tenth minute when John Allen Lowes fired to the net with a brilliant strike into the top corner of the net from the edge of the 18 yard box.

After this, Suirside began to dominate. Five minutes later a brilliant through ball found John Darmody, and he curled his effort around the outstretched hand of the Moyglass United goalkeeper to double the home side’s advantage.

Suirside continued to make chances and should really have put the game to bed, but a combination of wayward finishing and brilliant goalkeeping kept them at bay.

Suirside went into the second period with that 2-0 lead, but Moyglass United found a way back into the game 20 minutes from time when Stephen Houlihan finally beat the home team’s ‘keeper after a number of efforts to reduce the deficit to a single goal.

Moyglass United did push for an equaliser, but in the end Suirside managed to hold on for a precious three points that sees them up to second place in a really tight Second Division table.
