ROUNDERS OPEN DAY AT MARLFIELD HURLING CLUB
A new innovation for Marlfield Hurling Club and the Clonmel area generally will be the starting up shortly of the sport of Rounders.
Although one of the four games originally promoted by the GAA, it has always remained very much the Cinderella sport.
However, there are presently signs of a great increase in interest in the sport throughout the country.
An introductory Rounders Open Day will be held on The Lawn on Easter Monday, April 1. More news on this next week.
HURLING TRAINING
Hurling training is proceeding well and the lads are being put through their paces under the strict and shrewd stewardship of Paddy and Liam, although the recent rains caused some unavoidable postponement due to underfoot conditions. It is expected that fixtures and opponents for League and Championship will be known shortly.
Overall we are satisfied that the club is moving ahead well again now and looking forward to the year ahead.

USE OF CLUB MARLFIELD HURLING CLUB GROUNDS
The club would like to re-assert and restate its position on the use and ownership of its grounds. Whilst it is a public place in the sense that access is frequently available to many members of the public, it is nevertheless the property of the club and access is legally restricted to those who hold the appropriate form of membership, or to those who are otherwise entitled to avail of the facility, or by members of other clubs or organisations who may have access from time to time by virtue of special arrangements with our club, e.g. people attending matches or training sessions run by some relevant unit of the GAA.
For those who would rather not incur the commitment of full membership there is the option of Social Membership. This allows the holder to use the grounds for jogging, walking , etc, subject to some minor restrictions that the committee may deem necessary in the interest of safety, especially when other activities are taking place simultaneously.
Full details and conditions of membership are available from our treasurer Bernie Lennon, or our secretary Philip Phelan.
