Another defeat tilts Town towards the trap door in Tipperary Premier League

Another defeat tilts Town towards the trap door in Tipperary Premier League

Give him a ball and a yard of grass! No matter what the code Jamie Lee knows the way to goal with another brace at the weekend for Two-Mile-Borris in the Premier League

Clonmel Credit Union Premier League

Tipperary Town 1 Two-Mile-Borris 3

This game was moved to Newhill Park on Sunday, and by the end of the afternoon, Borris had taken the points and left their opponents still stuck firmly in the relegation mire, with time running out to escape that trap door.

But despite having to travel for a “home” game, Tipperary Town started brightly, and opened the scoring early in the game courtesy of an unstoppable free kick from Ryan Maher.

The quality of goals didn’t end there however, and in the 35th minute, Borris’ Jamie Lee stepped up and buried one into the top corner giving Tipperary Town keeper Timmy Esmonde no chance.

Just before the break, the hosts took the lead, when a great break away from a Tipperary Town corner ended up at the feet of Daniel Rafter to score from close range.

This left Borris in control, and they dominated much of the second period, before wrapping up the points 15 minutes from time when a slip in the visitors’ defence allowed Jamie Lee to grab his second of the game with a tidy finish.

Tipperary Town will face the only team below them in the top flight table next Sunday, when they play Clonmel side Wilderness Rovers, a game that has become a must win one now, while they hope some of the teams around them begin to slip up.
