The 2 Johnnies are trying to improve their Irish.
Creidim Ionat (I believe in you) kicked off this week and runs until Wednesday 8th May, an Irish language initiative by Foras na Gaeilge supported by RTÉ. All are encouraged to follow along the journey of well-known Irish personalities as they work to achieve their Irish language goals, set their own goal and sign up for fantastic online classes for all levels, whether studying for exams or brushing up on a cúpla focal!
The innovative and collaborative online initiative follows well known Irish personalities on their Irish language journey. During this year’s campaign, Aindriú de Paor will coach The 2 Johnnies on their Irish language journey towards the goal of performing ‘When I Play for the County’ as Gaeilge and live on air!
Meanwhile, Sinéad Ní Uallacháin will guide Brendan Courtney and David O’Reilly, of the Any News podcast, as they work toward their goal of recording a bilingual podcast episode. Sinéad Ní Uallacháin will also visit communities engaged in mentoring, which include the rural, multi-generational community of Carntogher in Derry, and Knocklyon-based Irish language choir, ‘As Béal a Chéile’, who will mentor the ‘Ukrainian Action Choir’ to learn a song as Gaeilge.
People with all levels of Irish are encouraged to pick a #CreidimIonat goal of their own to complete within the four weeks and follow along on forasnagaeilge.ie. Here the teams will guide users through the useful tips, tricks and resources they’ll be using, that can be utilised by anyone and everyone with an Irish language goal of their own.
Foras na Gaeilge, together with their partners, will be co-ordinating online Irish language classes available to all, irrespective of current level.
These classes are ideal, whether studying for Leaving Certificate Exams or brushing up on a cúpla focal! Live online classes begin Monday 8th April and run for four weeks at different levels to accommodate all learners.
Lessons cost only €5 per week and will concentrate on conversational spoken Irish, including topics like family, travel, entertainment and music. Full details on classes and how to sign up are available on www.forasnagaeilge.ie.
