Bansha Celtic 3 – 5 Clonmel Celtic
The home side badly needed the points in this game, and started well, opening the scoring in the 10th minute when a cross into the box was tapped home by Eamon Quirke.
Things were looking even better for Bansha when they doubled the lead in the 25th minute when a Shane Egan shot flew into the far corner.
The visitors eventually woke up and pulled a goal back ten minutes before the break when a long throw into the box wasn’t dealt with and Philip Drohan fired home at the back post.
It still looked like the hosts would take a lead to the break, but almost on the stroke of half-time, there was a mix-up in the Bansha Celtic defence and a back pass was left short, allowing Darren Sweeney to pounce and make it 2-2 at the break.
The home side became hesitant and the visitors took control hitting the front on 53 minutes, when a cross from the left was sidefooted home by Niall Prendergast.
However, Bansha Celtic rallied and got level once again at 3-3 on the hour mark when from a corner, a Clonmel Celtic defender under pressure sliced his clearance into his own net for an own goal.
That was as good as it got for the home side, and the away side regained the lead 15 minutes from time when another mix-up in the home defence allowed Niall Prendergast in to score his second of the afternoon.
Clonmel Celtic made sure of the win six minutes from time when Philip Drohan shot from 15 yards out, and saw the ball nestle in the bottom corner.
Cahir Park 1 – 0 Clonmel Town
Cahir Park cemented their third place position in the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Clonmel Town on Sunday afternoon.
The away team started the brighter and were unlucky not to take an early lead, having two decent chances in the first ten minutes of the game.
But the hosts eventually settled down and played their way into the game, finally opening the scoring in the 27th minute when Willie Dunne fired home from the edge of the area, with a very well taken goal.
Cahir Park kept this lead to the break, and in the second half, the home side completely dominated, forcing the Town keeper into a host of saves, and seeing some chances come back off the woodwork.
Despite all the pressure Cahir Park were unable to add to the first half goal, and in the end had to be content with the 1-0 win and with it the three league points.
