Councillor voices his desire to have his town reach its potential in recent speech

Nenagh

Nenagh Councillor Seamus Morris has outlined his hopes for Nenagh to realise “its huge potential” in a speech delivered recently.

The long-time Nenagh Councillor spoke at a recent launch in which he highlighted many issues in the town and spoke of the need for experienced people to be at hand to ensure the delivery of key projects in line for the town in the coming months and years.

“The Nenagh MD is losing many of our experienced advocates from the CEO Joe McGrath, Director of Services Marcus O’Connor and of course, fellow councillor Hughie McGrath currently we have no project manager for the Nenagh MD area which is shocking after I worked so hard to get one for the area.

“With so many multimillion Euro projects at various stages in the pipeline, it is important that an experienced hand is there to see them to fruition. Projects like the Rialto, Digital Hub, and Enterprise Hub includes social housing worth 3 million euros in total.

“The Banba Historic and Cultural Quarter is worth 10 million euros. The Nenagh Centre of Excellence at Martyrs Road is worth 12 million euros. New Machinery yard at Limerick Road worth 4 million euros.

“Why do we consistently elect people who let us down just because they have a Party logo doesn’t mean they are going to work in your interest, but the opposite is true.

“The first thing FF FG and the Labour Party will do is get together in a pact and take every position they can get to protect the Neo-Liberal agenda which has seen tens of thousands of our young people leaving the country due to the lack of housing.”
He continued by saying , “The electorate gave the Neo-Liberal agenda a hammering in the two recent referendums we must continue this revolution in the local elections.

“A vote for Labour is a vote for FF and FG. Independent Cllrs work for you, political parties work for the political party.” “I have been successful in getting Tipperary County Council to include Nenagh as one of the towns for affordable housing schemes.

"I am also pressing the council to declare housing as an “emergency” so that we can use the same suite of measures being used to house IPAS applicants,” he added when addressing the severe lack of housing in the Nenagh District.

Councillor Morris remarked on his 20 years of work in the town and highlighted the efforts he has made personally to help develop the town, and called on voters to look at his track record when they visit polling stations for the upcoming elections.

“At the first amalgamated Tipperary County Council budget meeting I used my experience to do a deal with the County Manager and I secured a deal so that the funding for sports clubs, tenants associations and organisations that we had used so successfully in Nenagh Town Council to be maintained for use in all the clubs and organisation in the Nenagh MD area.

“Practically every club and organisation in the Nenagh MD has availed of the over 500,000 euros handed out since.

“I ask for your Number 1 vote on June 7th. Vote for experience. Vote Morris number 1.”
