Moycarkey Coolcrue athlete Dillon Ryan representing Brunel University competed in the Long Jump at the British University Outdoor Track & Field Championships last Bank Holiday Weekend at the Manchester Regional Arena which is adjacent to the Manchester City football stadium.
Defending champion Dillon came through the qualifying round on Sunday May 5th qualifying with ease on his first official jump which took him to the finals on Monday May 6th where he gave a valiant defence of his title with a season's best jump of 7.03m.
That garnered a 4th place finish amongst a packed field of quality athletes alas it was not to be for Dillon in his last outing at the BUCS but he has already made history there winning Bronze Indoor & Gold Outdoors in 2023.
He also previously claimed Silver in the All Ireland U23s Championships so it's been a fantastic past couple of years for Dillon. With the Support of his family and coach Danny Sawyers, he will now rest up and prepare for the next chapter with the Summer Season and All Ireland Championships still to come.
