Dónal Clancy will perform at the Clancy Family Concert in Brewery Lane and Clancy's Kitchen show at the Strand Theatre during the festival
Carrick-on-Suir’s annual Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival will be officially opened by Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Cathaoirleach Cllr Kieran Bourke at Brewery Lane Theatre next Wednesday night, May 29.
The official opening ceremony will be followed by the festival’s opening concert and variety show at 8pm featuring performances from a host of local artists. (Admission €16.50).
This year’s festival features an eclectic mix of concerts, family events, lunchtime theatre, nature, history and heritage walks and cycles along with a live music pub trail.
Among the highlights will be singer Eleanor Shanley performing in concert at Brewery Lane Theatre on Sunday, June 2 at 8 pm.
She has performed with many of the country’s top folk and traditional music artists from De Danann to The Dubliners. Tickets for the show cost €20.
The talented relatives of the Clancy Brothers will celebrate the famous ballad group’s musical legacy at the Clancy Family Concert in Brewery Lane on Thursday, May 30 at 8pm.
The night of music and song, produced by Colm Power, will feature performances from Dónal Clancy, Finbarr Clancy, Roisin Clancy, Ryland Teifi and many more. Tickets cost €18.50.
There will be another opportunity to see members of the Clancy family perform at the Clancy’s Kitchen concert in the Strand Theatre on Saturday, June 1 at 8pm. Tickets cost €25.
The annual Eoghan Power Ballad Singing contest returns to the Old Mill on Thursday, May 30 at 9.30pm.
Another great night of entertainment will be the Carrick Musical Society Goes Folk show that takes place in Christy’s Bar at the Strand Theatre on Friday, May 31 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost €12.
A lunchtime drama staged by Brewery Lane Drama Group will once again be performed at the Festival.
This year’s play is, Bone Music, by Heather Comerford and performed by Barry Comerford. Tom Nealon is director. The play will be followed by a light lunch.
It will be staged at Brewery Lane Theatre from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2 at 1pm each day. Tickets cost €15.
Family Fun Day
The festival’s top community event will be the Family Fun Day and Craft Fair in the Swan Hall and Fairgreen Car Park on Sunday, June 2 at 2pm.
There will be live music, children’s entertainment, bouncy castles etc. Also in attendance will be the Carrick-on-Suir crew of Tipperary Fire and Rescue, CRITICAL Carrick-on-Suir Community First Responders and the Carrick-on-Suir unit of the Irish Red Cross.

To facilitate the running of the Family Fun Day and Craft Fair, the Fairgreen Car Park will be closed from 9pm on Friday, May 31.
Other community events include the screening of a Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem documentary in Carrick-on-Suir Library on Friday, May 31 at 3pm. Admission is free.
A meet and greet with members of the Clancy family takes place in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre at 2pm on Saturday, June 1.
Ormond Castle will be open free of charge, courtesy of the OPW, on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
And Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club will host several events over the weekend including Blueway walks and a Wild About Carrick cycle.
Carrick-on-Suir Paddlers Kayaking Club wil lalso host some activities, weather permitting.
