LATEST: Busy Tipperary road crossing in need of repaint as it has become dangerous

Cllr Declan Burgess believes crossing has become dangerous.

Clonoulty road crossing in need of repaint, says Councillor

Councillor Declan Burgess believes the crossing in Clonoulty village urgently needs to be repainted.

The Cathaoirleach brought the issue to the attention of the council at this month's meeting of the Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District.

He said that he is receiving phone calls from concerned parents who are worried for their children's safety.

A speed survey has already been conducted for the area, however Councillor Mary Hanna Hourign believes that a second speed survey should take place.

Councillor Roger Kennedy seconded the motion put forward by the Cathaoirleach that urgent action is needed, and expressed his concern that many cars do not stop for the crossing, due to how faded the paint on the crossing has become.

Discussion regarding the repainting will resume at the next MD meeting, following the election of the new council.
