Another speed survey has been requested on the Silversprings road and the adjoining St Patrick’s Road in Clonmel with a view to rolling out traffic calming measures.

The request was made by Cllr Siobhán Ambrose at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.

She said there had been a huge increase in the number of motorists using that road since the new access to the cemetery had been opened.

There had also been a huge increase in the speed of the traffic on the road.

In a written response, District Administrator Carol Creighton said that a speed survey carried out on Silversprings Road in January 2023 indicated that there was no requirement for traffic calming on this road.

A speed survey had also been carried out on St Patrick’s Road in January 2023.

The results of the survey indicated that average speed was below the speed limit. The road was considered marginal and a lower priority requirement for traffic calming.
