Poll topper Michael Murphy said that his performance in the Local Elections, when he recorded the highest vote in the county, has given him a great boost heading into the General Election.
The Fine Gael councillor, who was recently selected as the party’s candidate to contest the next General Election, topped the poll in the Clonmel Electoral Area with a total of 2,746 first preference votes, which was an increase of 644 from his vote in the Local Elections in 2019.
However, he said there would be no big celebrations for him, as he is very conscious of a lot of the challenges in Clonmel and faced by the citizens of the town.
“For me it’s about putting the buzz back into Clonmel”.
