Cllr Máirín McGrath has been given a standby role in Europe
One of the top performers in the Local Elections in Tipperary has revealed that she has been given a standby role for Europe.
Cllr Máirín McGrath told The Nationalist that she has been declared as a first substitute for European candidate Michael McNamara.
The Independent TD for Clare, who is going for a seat in the European elections, was a regular visitor to south Tipperary over the last few weeks and is close to the McGrath camp.
If Michael McNamara is elected to the European Parliament Cllr McGrath will be his first declared sub in the event he would have to vacate that seat.
“I am honoured to be asked because it is a recognition of my role as a public representative,” said Cllr McGrath.
“We need strong local and European representation and that is why I was confident in supporting his bid for a seat in Europe,” said Cllr McGrath.
