Cllr Michael Murphy is tipped to become the next Mayor of Clonmel Borough District.
The Fine Gael councillor achieved the largest vote in the county at last week's Local Elections with a total of 2,746 first preference votes, which was an increase of 644 from his vote in the Local Elections in 2019.
He has also been selected by his party to contest the next General Election in south Tipperary.
Cllr Murphy is expected to replace outgoing Mayor Richie Molloy at the annual meeting of Clonmel Borough District, which will be held in the Town Hall on Wednesday June 26.
