Popular "Father of the house"  elected as Chairperson of Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District

John Crosse (left ) is the new Chairperson of Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District.

John Crosse has been elected as the new Caotherlaoich and described it as "a great honour and a privilege" to be elected after serving for the previous 20 years.
 
Speaking at the annual meeting of the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District he also paid tribute to Tony Black who lost his seat in the recent election as well as welcoming the new members to the chamber. 
 
He gave thanks to Cllrs Mary Hanna and Declan Burgess who proposed and seconded him for this new role and said he will take on the role and give it his full time and attention ensuring that the people of the area are put first. 
 
Just afterwards Councillor Roger Kennedy was elected as Vice Chairperson. He praised Cllr John Crosse and said "You were Chair on two previous occasions and I will do everything I can to assist you in the role," 
 
He also congratulated Cllr Burgess on his election as Cathaoirleach for the coming year in the role of "County Chair". 
 
The Fine Gael Councillor from Cashel turned 29 this month and is the youngest ever Cathaoirleach in Tipperary County Council. 
 
At the Annual meeting the names of the Members elected were read out at the meeting and the appointment of members to committees was also confirmed. 
 
The final order of the meeting was to confirm the schedule of the monthly meetings going forward for the coming months. 
 
Described by Councillor Burgess as "the father of the house", other Councillors paid tribute and congratulated Cllr Crosse with Cllr Andy Moloney paying tribute to Cllr Crosse and his family by saying "all accolades" pointed to the choice of Cathorleach being a broadly accepted one.
