Works will commence on Monday 8th July on the new traffic calming, pedestrian and cycle improvement works along the R445 Dublin Road at Lisbunny, Nenagh.
Tipperary County Council have appointed a contractor to commence additional works at the end of July on the construction of a 3m-wide, on average, shared pedestrian and cycle surface. The new surface will be on both sides of the R445, there will also be a reduction of road widths to a minimum of 6m, along the R445. The scheme extents are from the junction of the Abbey Court Hotel to the Lisbunny Business Park. Its aim is to improve vulnerable road-user safety.
The works will also include the provision of an upgrade to the existing public lighting, junction tightening works, landscaping and the raising and lowering of manholes and gullies as required, and all associated site works.
Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh welcomed the news online and added, "At my request under the Section 38 public consultation process, a new pedestrian crossing will also be provided outside the Leisure Centre/Town Park and I want to thank the engineers, Director of Service and District team for including this important road safety measure in the plan."
