Cahir Park’s Pierce Purcell team were the pride of the club when they won the East Munster championship last weekend
Cahir Park Golf Club's Pierce Purcell team set out for Dundrum recently for the East Munster semi-final against Tramore, with a 12.30pm tee-off. The weather was a mixed bag, ranging from shining sun to downpours.
The course was in great shape, and the management team of Tom Hickey and John Morrissey had the team well-prepped. The lads secured an excellent win.
The Saturday pairings were:
- Team 1: Seamus Moran and Conal O’Reilly.
- Team 2: Tomas Walsh and Declan Lonergan.
- Team 3: Willie Morrissey and John Mitchell.
- Team 4: Donal Mullane and John McGrath.
Reserves:
- Barry Moloney and Kevin McGuire.
It was time to rest and regroup with a quick turnaround for the team. Mallow awaited the lads in the final after overcoming Kinsale in their semi-final.
Cahir took to the tee at 11.30 am on the following day with a slightly revised team.
The Sunday pairings were:
- Team 1: John Molloy and John Cashman.
- Team 2: Barry Moloney and Kevin McGuire.
- Team 3: Willie Morrissey and John Mitchell.
- Team 4: Donal Mullane and John McGrath.
Reserves:
- Seamus Moran and Conal O’Reilly.
The weather was much the same as Saturday. Cahir came bursting out of the traps and got on top quickly. This proved to be key as they went on to win 3.5 to 0.5, crowning them East Munster champions.
Congratulations to Tom, John, and the team. Thanks to all the supporters who turned out both days.
