WATCH: Tipp legends set to 'keep each other warm' as Hoolie in the Hills countdown continues

The excitement is building in Tipperary ahead of Hoolie in the Hills festival this August Bank Holiday weekend with two local legends hitting the headlines for a viral clip promoting the popular event.

Taking place on August 3 and 4 in Upperchurch and boasting headline acts like Jenny Greene and trad musician Sharon Shannon, Hoolie in the Hills 2024 looks set to be another successful weekend of music and craic.

Kicking off on Saturday with BASS CAMP featuring one of Ireland’s most successful DJs, Jenny Greene, playing a heady mix of fresh electronic tunes and dance anthems from across the globe.

Joining Jenny on the main stage will be Rhythm and Sticks, a dynamic five-piece band from Cavan and Longford, taking the folk scene by storm with their high-energy performances and unique twist on contemporary hits. Riff Shop bring upbeat remixes and funky rock originals along with Tipperary natives The Dorans and Tradstone.

The mood is more relaxed on Sunday with COOLA BOOLA featuring the world-renowned Irish traditional artist Sharon Shannon, rousing trad act Rebel Hearts, beloved local band Streams of Whiskey, the newly formed edgy trad band Seskin Lane, Kevin Molloy of Dublin City Ramblers and local favourites such as Strings and Things and The Bootlegs.

In a viral clip posted on the festival’s social media accounts, Tipperary hurling legend Joe Hayes and Jim Ryan from Jim O’ The Mill can be seen getting their sleeping arrangements in order for the big weekend.

In order to avoid “sleeping rough this time”, Joe Hayes is as prepared as ever with a campervan ready for the festival and even offers Jim a bed if he needs it, joking: “We’ll keep each other warm!”

Organisers have announced a special appearance at this year’s festival with TikTok sensation Caroline Rushe, better known for her ‘My Crazy Life Caroline’ account, will be scouring Kinnane’s Field for the best-dressed punters to be crowned the 'festival glam' king and queen with a special prize on offer.

The Co. Clare blogger and podcaster is best known for taking a lighter look at life’s struggles and her crazy antics. The social media influencer will be on the hunt for people to go all-out and embody the festival vibes at Hoolie in the Hills.

“We have a few surprises in store for festival goers this year as we gear up for the second year of Hoolie in the Hills”, explained organiser Fergal Butler. “Caroline from My Crazy Life will be joining us to get the party started and judging the best dress competition.

“We’re expecting everyone to make a big effort to dress the part, fairy wings, headdresses, fancy-dress, glitter anything to bring the festival glam!

Tickets are flying, so don’t miss out on the craic, join us in Upperchurch on the Bank Holiday weekend for Jenny Greene, Sharron Shannon and lots of well-known local bands. Don’t forget to dress the part! See you at Hoolie in the Hills.”

Doors open from 1pm until 11pm, the afterparty continues both nights at Kinnane's Field in Upperchuch.  For more and information and tickets for Hoolie in the Hills, visit Eventbrite.
