An aerial view of some of the changes Carrick-on-Suir’s Seán Healy Park has been undergoing over the past few months as part of the first phase of the Carrick-on-Suir Regeneration Scheme
The revamp of Carrick-on-Suir’s Seán Healy Park will be completed within the next two weeks, Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District has confirmed.
The park is the start point for the Suir Blueway and one of the goals of its upgrade is to connect the Blueway walk/cycle path to Carrick-on-Suir’s North Quay and eventually to Ormond Castle.
District Engineer Denis Power said the only outstanding works to be carried out on the park’s facelift is the fixing of railing on top of a wall.
The upgrade of the park is part of the €2.39m first phase of the Carrick-on-Suir Regeneration Scheme.
Works carried out on the riverside park, located along Carrick’s Clonmel Road, include a new public plaza area, new footpaths, a new wildflower area, hard paved areas and widening of the Suir Blueway as well as landscaping.
Public lighting has been upgraded and street furniture and signage replaced. A canoe recreation and washdown facility has been installed.
The Blueway has also been extended to connect to the North Quay and it’s planned to extend the cycleway and pedestrian path from Sean Healy Park to Ormond Castle and the town centre.
