A significant event recently took place in Waterford to honor a beloved priest from Tipperary who was well-regarded in the Déíse region.
The dedication of a memorial bench for Fr. Jerry Condon occurred in the village of Stradbally last Sunday. The bench was unveiled by Eileen Roche and Tessie Begley, members of the local Tidy Towns committee.
Fr. Edmond Cullinan PP led the dedication ceremony, supported by Fr. Michael Enright, Monsignor Joe Corbett from Atlanta, USA, and Rev. Jenny Crowley from the Church of Ireland community in Stradbally.
After the dedication prayers, Dave McKeon performed 'Slieve na Mban', the Tipperary anthem, to honor Fr. Jerry's roots in Emly, Tipperary, despite his long ministry in the Déíse.
Friends and family of Fr. Jerry, including his sister, Sr. Maureen from Bon Securs in Cork, traveled from Tipperary and Kilkenny for the event.
