Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s Cathaoirleach has called for the removal of a clothes recycling bank at Fethard Ballroom car park as it’s under utilised and is attracting littering.
Cllr Mark Fitzgerald issued the call at Carrick MD’s monthly meeting last Thursday. He complained the clothes bank was not being used by the public where it's currently located and people were starting to throw rubbish there.
The Fine Gael councillor pointed out the clothes bank was located near a playground and an area Fethard Tidy Towns group has earmarked for a flowerbed.
He emailed the company that operates the clothes bank about the issue but didn’t receive a response.
District Engineer Denis Power said he would contact the contractor to see if the clothes bank can be moved to a more suitable location or removed altogether.
