Noel Fahy, the owner of Noel Fahy Footwear in Cashel has announced that he is retiring from business at the end of August.

Noel has spent almost 40 years in business, first opening his doors in October 1984.

In a video posted to the shop's Facebook page, Noel reflected on his time in the shop.

"It’s been almost 40 years in business, and I think it is probably just time to move on with life. Big decision, but as I said, I hope we’re doing the right thing, but, it’s been, as I’ve said, a great, great blast over 40 years, and it’s great to have had so many customers and made so many friends over that period of time," he said.

"The shoe trade has definitely changed in recent years and its time for us all to move on. I’d like to thank you in particular, all our customers and friends, for the support you’ve given the business over the last, almost 40 years, it’ll be 40 years in October," he added.

He took a moment to thank those who have worked in the shop with him over the course of his time in business, saying: " I want to say a special word of thanks to our dedicated staff from day one, right through those years. I think we’ve always had a family relationship here, and we’ve got on pretty well, and I hope we served you to your needs over that period of time."

With the news of his retirement, Noel announced that the shop will hold a closing down sale for the remainder of August, starting today, Thursday, August 8, and running until either the end of August or until stocks run out.
