Tipperary village to hold special history walk as part of Heritage Week 2024

A guided history walk will take place in Boherlahan this Saturday, August 17, getting underway at 12pm.

The walk will begin at the Moate in Ardmayle and walk up towards the Bianconi Mortuary Chapel in Boherlahan.

The aim for this walk is to educate the people of Tipperary about the life and times of Charles Bianconi.

Guiding the walk along its path will be Séamus Ó Dubhagáin, a registered Heritage Council expert.

At the conclusion of the walk, a new exhibition in the Chapel will be opened to visitors in the chapel, where Bianconi and his family were laid to rest.

The walk was announced following the announcement that the Heritage Council of Ireland has granted the Friends of Bianconi a grant for €25,000 for The Conservation and Development of Charles Bianconi's Mortuary Chapel in Boherlahan village.

To book a place on the walk, you can contact Friends of Bianconi on 086 3723164, or by email at noirintipp@gmail.com.
