The Irish Chamber Orchestra has announced a busy month with shows in September

Tipperary audiences are invited to get along to neighbouring counties Limerick and Waterford for a Mozart Homage which promises to thrill the senses.

Irish Chamber Orchestra will thrill audiences with its Mozart Homage directed by the captivating Katherine Hunka on the 12 and 13 September, at University Concert Hall, Limerick and at the Dr. Mary Strangman Room, City Hall, Waterford(in association with Waterford Music Symphony Club of Waterford).

Be enchanted by the light and airy Divertimento K.136 that reveals Mozart’s youthful brilliance. Revel in the sheer joy of this music-making, the sparkling virtuosity of ICO’sviolins with their irresistible energy as we catch a glimpse of the genius yet to come.

Schnittke’s nods to both Mozart and Haydn in Moz-Art à la Haydn will amaze with its extraordinary brilliance, fun and flair. This kaleidoscope sees the music emerge out of darkness into blazing visibility before fading to oblivion. It just sweeps you off your feet.

Finally, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, was his attempt to to write in the style of his revered Mozart. Be dazzled by his trademark lush, heart-rending harmonies. Scintillating music that stood the test of time and is much-loved today.

ICOis the orchestra that invites you in and wants you to feel the same heart-stirring, hair-raising, on-the-edge-of-your-seat feelings that it feels. It pours heart, soul, and no small measure of skill into its art.

By playing old, by playing new, by playing everything with guts and fire. ICO is one of the world’s most inspiring chamber orchestras, performing to the highest artistic standards for the widest possible audience, and a catalyst for integration and social change through inclusive engagement with children and local communities.

As Ireland's national chamber orchestra, ICO resides at the University of Limerick and is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
