Community near Carrick-on-Suir hosts series of free events for National Heritage Week

The village of Tullahought is celebrating National Heritage Week with a series of free events this week

National Heritage week is being celebrated in Tullahought near Carrick-on-Suir with a series of free community events. 
BAT WALK 
All ages are welcome to a bat walk and talk by Harm Deenen, a bat conservationist based in Wexford, who is well known for leading the Bat Walks at Johnstown Castle.
It takes place in Tullahought on Tuesday, August 20 at 7.45pm with a short talk in the Community Centre on Ireland’s nine Bat species.
It will be be followed by a short walk as dusk arrives to the wildlife area to see and identify the valuable nocturnal animals. Attendees will get to try out a bat detector, find out about their ultrasonic world and identify a bat by its call.
HEADSTONES SURVEY
A presentation of a gravestones study of Tullahought graveyard by Paddy O’Shea takes place in Tullahought Community Centre at 8pm on Friday, August 23.  Paddy has carried out an identification process in a number of local cemeteries. All are welcome.
KILMACOLIVER LOOP TOUR
A Heritage Week guided tour of the 6Km Kilmacoliver Loop walk will commence in Tullahought village at 2pm on Sunday, August 25.
Leaving the village it travels along the Long Pavement, through Poulrone village and along cobbled paths to Breagaun.
Passing through fields, Coillte and native deciduous forestry it has panoramic views of the historic and heritage laden Lingaun and Suir Valleys extending into five counties. All are welcome.
