A treasure trove of local history is to be launched in Tipperaryon Thursday, as authors Neil Ryan and Kevin O'Reilly have compiled a book retelling the story of the Third Tipperary Brigade.

The book contains 160 pages of Third Tipperary Brigade history, and captures over 100 years of work by the Third Tipperary Brigade Old IRA Commemoration Committees.

Titled 'Memories Etched in Stone', the book recalls the brigade's "sacrifice for Irish Freedom" in detail from 1919 to 1924.

The book contains over a thousand photographs, including some of headstones and monuments erected to "honour and remember the men and women of the Third Tipperary Brigade".

The Irish Times Political Editor Pat Leahy is set to join the launch, which is sure to be an unmissable event for Tipperary history fans.
