Arravale Rovers comfortably saw off the challenge of Lattin/Cullen Gaels in a one-sided semi-final on Wednesday evening.
Arravale were strong in all sectors of the field led in defence by David Ryan and Jaye Cilvinas while Sean O’Mahony dictated terms in midfield.
Adam Ryan was a tower of strength at centre forward while their full forward line of the Quigleys Donnacha and Shane along with Ciaran Kelly were very lively.
Arravale were three points to the good with points from Adam Ryan, Ciaran Kelly and Sean O’Mahony, after four minutes playing into the Acraboy end of the field and with the advantage of the elements.
Lattin/Cullen were struggling to make an impact with the Arravale defence well on top. A Stevie Carey free after seven minutes eventually getting them off the mark. Arravale built on that lead through Sean O’Mahony pointed frees and then Shane Quigley raised the games first green flag.
Adam Ryan had done all the running bursting through the defence only to see his effort blocked but Quigley was on hand to finish to the net. Stevie Carey replied with two pointed frees but Arravale continued to cause problems with Donnacha Quigley adding to his account while Jaye Cilvinas did likewise and by half time led, 1-11 to 0-3.
Lattin/Cullen struggling against a very strong Arravale defence who rarely saw Ben Dudley troubled. During the half they brought Sean Bourke back the field in an attempt to stem the tide.
The second half took a while to get going. Lattin/Cullen started well with a Tomas O’Shea point their only one from play however as a unit the Arravale defence stood strong. As the half progressed Arravale got the scoreboard moving again with Evan Ryan making his mark at wing forward with three second-half points.
At the three-quarter mark, Arravale led 1-18 to 0-4. Then Adam Ryan powered through before hitting a rocket of a shot to the net. The third goal arrived soon after with David Ryan doing the running before substitute Jimmy Carey completed the finish. Cillian Barlow and Tomas O’Shea added late pointed frees for Lattin/Cullen before Shane Quigley rounded off the scoring for Arravale.
Arravale Rovers now meet defending champions Eire Og/Sean Treacys in a repeat of last year’s decider.
