Conor McGregor makes cryptic remark on Cashel Palace Hotel after sister’s wedding

MMA star Conor McGregor’s social media has been awash with cryptic clues surrounding the use of his alcohol at his sister’s wedding at the luxurious Cashel Palace Hotel over the weekend. 

The 36-year-old Dubliner’s sister Erin tied the knot with her fiancé Terry Kavanagh in an exclusive no expense spared reception at the five-star Tipperary hotel which reportedly cost €1.5m.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant and family booked out the entire venue with the McGregor “takeover” in full swing according to her brother Conor’s Instagram account.

Conor, who is still in talks for a rescheduled UFC return against Michael Chandler in what will be his first time inside an octagon in three years, is also an established businessman in the alcohol industry.

The Notorious is the owner of Forged Irish stout, named after his own pub in Dublin, the Black Forge Inn, and Proper Number Twelve whiskey. Both brands are prominent on the star’s accounts and last weekend in Tipperary was no different.

Having launched his stout exclusively on draught at his Dublin pub in 2021, he ramped up scale to break the UK and Ireland retail markets in a bid to take on Kingpins Guinness and rivals like Beamish and Murphys.

In a competitive Irish market, McGregor has been on an aggressive “Takeover” marketing campaign for months promoting the stout and whiskey to his 47 million Instagram followers and at in-person events.

A source inside the hotel confirmed to Tipperary Live that McGregor’s Proper Number Twelve whiskey and Forged Irish stout were available on tap at the exclusive venue, and may be in the future.

“Possibly. They [The McGregors] loved it. It’s a very nice stout in fairness so if customers would like it we’d be happy to offer it to them.”

McGregor reshared a photo posted by the Cashel Palace Hotel’s Head Mixologist, Mike Pickford, of a tasty-looking Proper Number Twelve whiskey cocktail named “The Takeover” and added the text:

“The Cashel Palace Hotel was outstanding this weekend for my sister and now brothers wedding! Thank you all.”

In a series of photos posted to his official account in the days following the wedding, pints of his Forged Irish stout and glasses of his whiskey at the reception feature heavily.
