The late Alan Faulkner
Tributes have been pouring in for a Tipperary father-of-four and 'great GAA man' who died this week.
Alan Faulkner of Rackhill, Carrick Beg, Carrick-on-Suir, Tipperary passed away on August 31, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Since the sad news was announced, tributes have been pouring in for Alan, who has been described as an “outstanding member” of his GAA club who had a "passion for theatre".
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Alan Faulkner, Carrick Davins. Alan was an outstanding member of his club & his passion for Tipperary GAA was unquestionable. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Kathleen and his family. May Alan Rest In Peace,” Tipperary GAA wrote in tribute.
“Alan Faulkner has passed away after a brief illness. We are saddened by this news which came as a shock to his family and the wider community. When Alan was younger, he worked tirelessly with John Denby following our purchase of Brewery Lane in 1974. He also had a passion for theatre and travelled with us to drama festivals all over Ireland, helping John build sets for upcoming plays. A busy life was interrupted when he took over the management of the family Pub, and his brother Eamon took over his role. Alan's other passion was sports, which was no surprise, given that he was descended from the Davin Athletes from Deerpark. Alan will be greatly missed. The members of Brewery Lane Theatre extend heartfelt sympathy to Kathleen, daughters Laura and Ciara, sons Luke and Murphy, Siblings Evelyn, Caitriona, Hugh, Gerry and Eamon, and extended family. Solus na bhFlaitheas Dá Anam Dílis,” Brewery Lane Theatre paid in tribute.
"Deepest condolences to Kathleen and family and to Alan's brothers and sisters and all the extended Faulkner and Murphy families. Alan was highly respected and a great GAA man for both club and county his easy manner made him a pleasure to meet. Rest easy Alan," someone paid in tribute.
Alan was pre-deceased by his parents Eddie Peggy and brother Benny. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Kathleen and Children Laura, Ciara, Luke and Murphy, brothers Eamon, Gerard and Hugh, sisters Evelyn O Reilly and Catrine Callaghan, mother in law Joanie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
He will be reposing at Walsh's Funeral Home, Carrick-on-Suir on Wednesday, September 4, from 5pm to 6.30pm, Alan will be arriving at St Molleran's Church, Carrick Beg on Thursday, September 5, for requiem mass on arrival at 11am followed by burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery.
May he rest in peace.
