Revealed: Government publishes statistics for number of homeless people in Tipperary

Tipperary ranked among counties with lowest rates of homelessness.

Tipperary is one of the counties with the fewest number of people seeking emergency accommodation, according to a recent report.

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage have released their monthly report on homelessness in Ireland, which reveals that Dublin ranks highest in terms of homelessness, while Longford and Roscommon are at the bottom of the list.

The report revealed that in the week of August 19 to 25, 61 adults in Tipperary accessed emergency accommodation.

In terms of region, the south-east of Ireland made up 3% of adults checking in to emergency accommodation during this period, with 314 people availing of the services across Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford.

62 families entered emergency accommodation during the week of August 19 to 25, with 44 of these families being single parent families.

The total number of adults accessing emergency accommodation across the country during the week of August 19 to 25 was 10,067, with 6,602 being single adults.
