Templemore Active Retirement is celebrating its 20-year anniversary this year.
Templemore Active Retirement was founded in 2004, with Pat Costello serving as its first chairman.
Tom Murphy was vice-chair, Elsie Browne was secretary, Ella Lambe was assistant secretary, John Galvin was treasurer, with Mary Nolan, Michael Connell and Maire Regan on the committee.
A celebratory dinner was held recently in the Templemore Arms hotel to mark their 20th anniversary, which was attended by National President May Quaid.
Other invited guests included Fiona Crotty (Tipperary Age Friendly), Joanne Mulqueen and Damien O’Donohoe (representing NTDC), Garda Teresa Widel (representing Templemore Garda College) and Eddie Moran (MCC, representing Tipperary County Council).
The group was delighted to have some of their founding committee members present at the function, while a presentation was made to seven members who have been active since the beginning - Betty Campion, Geraldine Collum, Patricia Cullen, Maura Meade, Maura Regan, Nancy Treacy and Noreen Whelan.
They would also like to thank Ben Collins and Noel Joyce who provided entertainment after the meal meal.
Our anniversary cake was cut by the National President, and their current Chairperson, Bridget O'Dea.
The group wish to thank Burkeena Wind Farm for their sponsorship.
The current committee put a lot of work into organising the event, and say that great credit is due to Bridget O’Dea, Geraldine Collum (Vice-Chair), Esther O’Brien (Secretary), Maureen Cullen (Assistant Secretary), Eadaoin Russell (Treasurer) and committee members Josie Bergin, Ann Stapleton and Geraldine Purcell.
