Liam Ryan says his team is ready to lead Toomevara to the Dan Breen cup

Toomevara hurlers play Loughmore this Sunday.

Toomevara captain Liam Ryan echoes what his manager Ken Dunne says about enjoying the buzz of this week while preparing for a county final.

Liam has build up experience over the years and now has the possibility to emulate what the Toome team of old achieved in winning the main hurling title in Tipp: ”Growing up it felt like every year we were coming over to Thurles to see a county final or a semi final.

“It is hard from our point of view to be the team that follows them but to get there is brilliant and hopefully we can win it now.

“When Ken and the boys came in last year it looked a long way away but we improved a lot since then just to get that step further into the county final and hopefully we can go all the way.

“The senior competition is the main one. It was great we got to the north final but didn't get the win which was disappointing. Then we had a bad start to the championship against Borris Ileigh but we knuckled down even more and got a few results and got momentum going.

“Loughmore probably have a little more experience than us. They are contesting finals in hurling and football and we will just take it in on the day,” Liam Ryan says.

Regarding the Toome progression, he credits the efforts the panel have put in as key. Added to that they have a new scoring sensation Darragh McCarthy bringing a touch of class.

“It is hard to believe he is only 18 or 19. He is a fair hard working young lad and it is showing in his performances.  He never misses a sesson and is on his own in the field practising for free so he has a really good attitude and we are lucky to have him.  Every team would be glad to have one! I’m just glad he is on my team!”

The big stage beckons for Toome and they have the performers to light it up.
