Tributes have poured in following news of the passing of beloved community member Mary Jo Carroll.
Mary Jo, who had lived in the UK town of Surrey having moved over from Knockballiniry, Tipperary, passed away on Saturday 5th October.
The much-loved grandmother died following a short illness surrounded by her family at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton.
Mary Jo is predeceased by her husband John and her brother Thomas, and will be dearly missed by her loving children Audrey, Fergal, Adrian, Áine and Niamh, her much loved grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law, sister Ka, brother Teddy, nephews, nieces, and her many friends and family far and wide.
Those who knew her from Tipperary have left dozens of heartfelt tribute messages, with neighbours, former coworkers and more describing Mary Jo as a "kind and lovely lady with a beautiful smile".
Two former coworkers were among the many to leave tributes to Mary Jo, saying she was"always most respectful and kind to all the patients doctors, nurses and all the staff, a lovely pleasant lady".
One woman who spent time alongside Mary Jo in hospital in the UK said she was "so shocked and saddened to read of the death of Mary Jo".
"I only met her recently while in hospital but her great sense of humour kept those of us on the ward in great spirits. My deepest sympathies to all her family and friends. I know she will be sorely missed," the tribute read.
Mary Jo will be reposing at Costigan's Funeral Home Cahir on Thursday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
A funeral cortége will arrive to the Church of the Holy Family, Ardfinnan on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by cremation at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Cork at 4pm.
